Pipe cutting – onsite machining
Pipe cutting is the process of cutting any size pipe either perpendicular to its length or at an angle. There is no limitation to diameter or wall thickness. Several methods may be used to achieve this depending on the size and type of the pipe to be cut and involve both internally and externally mounted cutting equipment. The traditional method of flame cutting heats the pipe and leave an unacceptable heat affected zone. MTT’s range of cold cutting and weld prepping machines can quickly cut and weld prep pipes to a finish suitable for welding. Weld preps can be formed to any requirements, such as straight, 37.50, bevels and ‘j’ prep configurations.
